We invite all pilots to join this year's international Hotzenwald soaring contest. In 2013 it will take place the 50th time. Hence, the Hotzenwald competition is one of the longest-standing soaring competitions in Germany.
In the familiar atmosphere of our airfield you can expect challenging tasks, which aim to use every competition day perfectly. In recent years, on several occasions, we have managed to compete on distances more than 500 km. This was possible through the professional meteorological support of Dr. Manfred Reiber (http://www.drmreiber.de/). Even in difficult weather conditions Manfred is able to take advantageof small weather windows. Therefore, loosely translated, Manfreds nickname is “good of the weather window”. Furthermore, the international competitors from neighbouring countries add zest to the contest.
Our competition area includes the Black Forest, the Swabian Alb and the Swiss Jura. This very attractive mountain scenery provides a spectacular flight experience for both experts and beginners. This is rounded off by the perfect infrastructure of our airfield Hütten / Hotzenwald. Our clubhouse is open to guests during the entire competition week. Further more, there is bread delivery service in the morning, free wireless connection for the participants and heated sanitary facilities. A retrieval service is available for those pilots who are participating without their own crew (please request this service in advance).
The nearby surroundings offer many opportunities for accompanying families and crews, E.g. trips to cities of Basel, Zürich and Freiburg (Breisgau) or relaxation in the thermal springs in Bad Säckingen, Bad Zurzach, Schinznach Bad, Rheinfelden, Badenweiler and Bad Krozingen. Hiking and mountain bike tours in the Wehratal or on the open plains of the Hotzenwald provide pure nature experience. For kids the inside water parks of Pratteln (Aquabasilea), Weil am Rhein (Laguna) or Pfäffikon (Alpamare) are worth a trip.
